Wala Fante Kenkey is fermented corn. It is a perishable item. Please keep in mind that because kenkey is freshly made without any preservatives, the shelf life is 1-2 weeks.
How To Store & Cook
If you will be consuming your kenkey within a week, you may store it out in a dry, cool area or in your fridge. If you would like to keep your kenkey for longer than that, we recommend putting it in the freezer. When you are ready to eat your kenkey, boil it on the stove with the lid covered for 15-20 minutes to soften. Use a toothpick to poke through the center of the kenkey to make sure that it is thoroughly cooked before consuming it.
Though you can warm your kenkey in the microwave before eating it, we strongly recommend boiling it instead on the stove to cook as this allows for the kenkey to be soft and more evenly cooked throughout.
