Purple Tea is a new tea leaf varietal currently only grown in Kenya. It has higher anthocyanin levels than green or black teas and lowers caffeine content than green tea. Anthocyanins are a type of antioxidant found in red and purple superfoods like beets and berries. They are responsible for purple leaf pigmentation.
Kenyan tea is naturally grown at high altitudes in the rich volcanic soils of Mount Kenya and the Rift Valley region. No pesticides or chemicals are sprayed on the tea leaves.
